GAAM Emergency Products:
Since 1933, Australian firefighters relied upon GAAM equipment in their everyday operations.
GAAM was originally a family engineering organization which grew to become a specialist in the design
and manufacture of pumps for urban and rural fire suppression.
The GAAM name being an acronym for General, Aeronautical, Agricultural and Marine is well known to
emergency services throughout Australia.
Over the years various models of petrol and diesel powered pumpsets have been designed and produced
to meet the demand for fire fighting departments.
In the 1960s Godiva rear mount range of firefighting pumps from the UK were added to our stable of
pumps.
In 1983 a range of Hale midship and PTO firefighting pumps was also added, and so an exclusive
arrangement was made with Hale products Inc. of the USA to represent their products
throughout Australia.
In addition to its own Australian designed and manufactured products, GAAM was then able of offer fire
services throughout Australia, access to vehicle midship, PTO and rear mounted pumps as well as
forestry pumps.
In 1988 a decision was taken to broaden GAAMs product base. This included such well known
and respected products as Bullard fire fighting helmets, Paratech manual emergency entry tools,
Fireflex remote area collapsible water tanks and K.K/Task Force Tips fire fighting nozzles.
The early 1990s saw this product range further enhanced with the Jaws of Life Hurst range
of hydraulic rescue tools and Nupla fire fighting tools.
New products were acquired in the mid 1990s to service Police departments, Prison authorities
and Security organizations. These included such products as; Riot helmets, batons and gloves.
Early in 1997 GAAM acquired the QuenchMaster ARP foam proportioning system,
which is manufactured in our Thomastown plant. The Hale electric and electronic range of FoamMaster
automatic foam proportioning systems were also introduced at this time.
In November 1998 we changed our trading name from GAAM Fire and Rescue to GAAM
Emergency Products to better identify with our broadened customer base.
Early in 1999 we introduced the Bullard Thermal Imaging camera to emergency services. Also in
1999 GAAM was granted licence to market the full range of Task Force Tip products.
In March 2002 GAAM was granted the exclusive distributorship from Woodway Engineering of the
UK for their range of vehicle mounted scene lights and Whelen Engineering Company
of the USA range of lightbars and siren products for emergency service vehicles.
Today GAAM has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland in New Zealand. Other areas in
Australia are represented by distributors who are as passionate and proud of our products as ourselves.
New products are constantly being developed by our Engineering department and other products
sourced to keep pace with the growing and varying needs of Emergency services.
